Is H1N1 Vaccine Really Safe? You Decide.
Last night, 60 Minutes aired a story about the safety of the H1N1 vaccine. It seems that the story may have been a bit biased mainly because the sponsors of that particular show were pharmaceutical company backed. So, a fellow acupuncturist sent out an email this morning that really opened my eyes and I hope it will do the same for you.

I'm not giving an opinion one way or another for getting the vaccine, however, I'm asking you to make an informed decision and understand exactly what you are choosing to put into your body.

Dr. Bruce Gellin, the director of the federal vaccine program, was interviewed and stated that he has received fewer than 200 reports of side effects, mostly about muscle aches, stomach aches and sore arms.

He was then asked if they have found any serious side effects related to the vaccine, Gellin said, "We're looking hard and we haven't seen anything like that yet.".

A great deal of concern stems from the 1979 vaccination program when forty million doses of vaccines were given and about 400 people developed something called 'Guillain-Barre Syndrome,' which is a paralysis which starts at your toes and can work its way up where your nervous system is affected. "Some people died from that," Gellin explained. He then went on to say the never understood why these people were effected with Guillain-Barre syndrome. Gellin indicated because it hasn't happened since 1979, there's a great chance it won't happen again. I agree that 400 cases are minimal, however, I wouldn't want to be one of 400 in this scenario.

So, here you go. The ingredients in the H1N1 vaccine:

Dead influenza viruses - which are the major flu shot ingredients, are grown in chicken eggs. Are you allergic to eggs?

Aluminum - a neurotoxin that has been linked to Alzheimer?s disease (it is used as an additive to promote antibody response)

Triton X-100 - a detergent

Phenol - (also known as carbolic acid (this is used as a disinfectant, dye)

Ethylene glycol - (antifreeze)

Betapropiolactone - a disinfectant

Nonoxynol - used to kill or stop growth of STDs

Octoxinol 9 - a vaginal spermicidal

Sodium phosphate - clear colorless crystals, used chiefly in the manufacture of dyes, fertilizers, detergents, and pharmaceuticals

Thimerosal - a mercury disinfectant/preservative) can result in brain injury and autoimmune disease. Some flu shots contain as much as 25 mcg of mercury per dose. This means that it may contain more than 250 times the Environmental Protection Agency?s safety limit for mercury.

Neomycin and Streptomycin - (used as antibiotics) have caused allergic reaction in some people.

Formaldehyde - a known cancer-causing agent and embalming fluid

Squalene MF59 - incites your immune system to attack all the squalene in your body. Ingested squalene has a completely different effect on the body than injected squalene. When molecules of squalene enter the body through an injection, even at concentrations as small as 10 to 20 parts per billion, it can lead to self-destructive immune responses, such as autoimmune arthritis and lupus. This is in H1N1 inoculations and the second one is a shot, not oral.
